Privacy Policy
Last updated:
The short version
- Listeners don't sign up, and we don't ask them for their name, email or phone number.
- Live audio is streamed, not recorded.
- Transcripts are kept only if a church turns them on, never during Privacy mode, and they're deleted after 90 days.
- We don't sell data, show ads or use advertising cookies, and we don't use church audio to train AI.
1. Who we are
Waymark ("we", "us") runs Voz-Translate (the "Service"), which streams a church's live audio, interpreters and AI translation to listeners' phones. This policy explains what information the Service handles and why.
Each church decides how it uses the Service with its congregation, for example which languages it offers and whether it keeps transcripts. For listener information we act on the church's behalf. For church accounts and billing we're responsible for the information ourselves.
2. What we collect
Church accounts and teams:
- the email address you sign in with and, if you add them, your name and a phone number for alerts;
- your church's name, time zone, logo, welcome message and button color;
- events and their settings, glossaries of names and terms, sermon notes, and messages to listeners;
- the email addresses of people you invite, and the names and contact details (email or phone) you enter for sound-booth and interpreter links;
- billing details: your plan, invoices and payment status. Card and bank details go directly to Stripe; we don't store full card or account numbers.
Listeners:
- nothing that identifies you by name. There's no account, and we don't ask for your name, email or phone number;
- your phone stores a random ID and the language you chose, so the page works and remembers you;
- to stream audio, our systems receive connection data such as your IP address and browser type;
- we count how many people listen in each language. If you tap "No escucho" (I can't hear), we save which channel and when, nothing else;
- if an event has a PIN, we keep each attempt with the IP address and random ID for 1 day, to stop people from guessing.
Audio:
- the sanctuary audio and interpreters' microphones are streamed live to listeners through LiveKit. We don't record or store this audio.
AI translation (only for languages set to AI voice or AI captions):
- the preacher's audio is sent live to Deepgram, which turns it into text. We've turned off Deepgram's option to use it for training;
- that text, with the church's glossary and sermon notes, is sent to Anthropic (Claude) to translate;
- for AI voice, the translation is sent to ElevenLabs to be spoken;
- translated lines appear on listeners' phones and in the church's Control Room during the service.
Transcripts:
- only for events where the church turns transcripts on: the text of what was said and its translation, including moderators' fixes;
- nothing is saved while Privacy mode is on;
- transcripts are deleted automatically 90 days after the service.
Usage and logs:
- service records such as listener counts, AI minutes used and alerts, used for reports and billing;
- technical logs, which can include IP addresses, used for security and to fix problems.
3. How we use it
- to run the Service: streaming, translation, reports and transcripts;
- to bill churches for their plan and usage;
- to send sign-in links, invitations, alerts you've asked for, and important notices about your account;
- to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse, for example by limiting PIN guesses;
- to answer support requests and fix problems;
- to meet legal obligations.
We don't sell personal information or share it for advertising. We don't show ads. We don't use churches' audio, notes or transcripts to train AI models. Where a provider offers a setting that keeps it from training on that data, we use it.
5. Service providers
These companies process information for us only to provide their part of the Service:
- Vercel: hosting the website and app;
- Supabase: database and sign-in;
- LiveKit: live audio streaming, and hosting of the AI translator;
- Deepgram: speech-to-text for AI channels;
- Anthropic: translation for AI channels;
- ElevenLabs: AI voices;
- Stripe: payments;
- Resend: email;
- Twilio: text-message and WhatsApp alerts, if a church turns them on.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. If that happens, this policy keeps applying to the information.
6. How long we keep it
- account and church information: while the account is open. After it closes, we delete it within 90 days, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting, usually up to 7 years;
- transcripts: 90 days after the service, or sooner if the church deletes the event;
- PIN attempts: 1 day;
- listener counts and "No escucho" reports: as part of the church's reports while the account is open. They don't identify anyone;
- backups: deleted on a rolling schedule.
7. Children
Congregations include children, so the listener page is built to work without asking anyone for personal information. Church accounts are for adults (18 and older). If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to church data is limited by role. Sound-booth and interpreter links can be replaced at any time, and events can require a PIN. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
9. Your choices and rights
- Churches can edit most of their information in Settings, turn transcripts off, use Privacy mode, and delete events.
- Anyone can ask us to see, correct, export or delete their personal information by writing to hola@voz-translate.com. We'll confirm the request comes from you and answer within the time the law requires.
- Depending on where you live (for example California, other US states, the EU or the UK), you may have more rights, including the right to complain to a data-protection authority. We won't treat you differently for using them.
- Listeners: because we don't know who you are, tell us the church, the date and roughly when you listened, and we'll help. You can also contact the church.
10. Where data is processed
The Service runs in the United States. If you use it from another country, your information is processed in the United States.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For a material change, we'll email account owners before it takes effect.
